Project Description

According to World Bank website, the objective of the Hubei Jingzhou Historic Town Conservation Project for China is to conserve cultural heritage and improve water quality and tourism services in selected areas in Jingzhou Municipality. There are four components to the project: Component 1. Being cultural heritage conservation and tourism services improvement. Component 2. Water environment improvement. Component 3. Water environment improvement. This component aims to facilitate access to the cultural heritage sites for residents and tourists alike by improving NMT and public transport options. It will also help improve movement of tourists by upgrading signage. Component 4. Assistance to project management and capacity building. This component aims to strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of the Project Management Office (PMO) and the Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs): provision of support for project management, monitoring, and supervision and independent monitoring of environmental and social safeguards, including the provision of office equipment and supplies; carrying out of capacity building activities, including training, organization of workshops and study tours for relevant staff and key stakeholders; and Provision of technical assistance, including the realization of studies on conservation and restoration of historic sites and neighborhoods, as well as on traffic management for Jingzhou’s historic town.
