According to the IADB, the objective of this Technical Cooperation project is to actively support the integration process of MERCOSUR as a competitive and dynamic regional block in the international context. Its specific objectives are: (i) the modernization of the bloc and the deepening of the Customs Union through the implementation of innovative customs practices and policies and promoting the harmonization of customs regulations and procedures between Member States; and (ii) the insertion of MERCOSUR countries into the global economy through the facilitation and active promotion of the celebration and implementation of cutting-edge trade agreements that promote sustainable economic growth, export diversification and the attraction of FDI to the bloc.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
