According to bank provided information, this intervention concerns the Mano River Union Road Development and Transport Facilitation programme (MRU/RDTFP), Phase III. It aims to build resilience at the community and regional levels where inadequate physical infrastructure, particularly in the energy, water, and road sectors. The design of the Programme has taken into consideration the fragility of the region resulting from the protracted civil war which weakened institutional capacity, as well as the high vulnerability of the roads to heavy rains and floods. This Phase 3 of the Programme will consist of: (i) the development and asphalting of: (i) 89 km of road, including 50 km in Liberia and 25 km in Sierra Leone to be upgraded according to ECOWAS standards (7m of pavement and two shoulders of 1.5m each with an asphalt concrete structure); (ii) road studies on 197 km , including 27 km in Guinea, 90km in Sierra Leone and 80 km in Liberia (iii) the construction of a 276 meters bridge over the Makona (Moa) River between Guinea and Sierra Leone.
