According to the Bank’s website, the proposed financing for CMI Alimentos, one of the main food and agribusiness groups in Central America, consists of: (i) a revolving loan committed to the Borrowers for up to US$40 million, to ensure their liquidity in the short and medium term, financing their needs working capital; and (ii) an uncommitted revolving line of imports to the Borrowers for up to US$10 million, for the purchase of grains considering the growth of their operations and the increase in the price of grains. The development objectives of the Financing include: (i) increasing food production, protecting the food supply in domestic markets; (ii) strengthen market links with the regional supply chain; and (iii) support employment, including in areas of high poverty.

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest)-funded project.
