The project will construct a 140m high concrete gravity dam with a crest length of 215 m on the Seti River, a hydropower plant of 140 megawatts with water storage facilities and associated transmission lines. The dam incorporates a 4-bay gated spillway, gated water level lowering and sediment flushing openings and a small power scheme to exploit downstream environmental water releases to generate electricity. The project will create a storage reservoir some 25 (river) km long with a surface area of 7.26 km² at FSL (EL 415m) and a gross storage capacity of some 295 million m³. The dam site is located about 2 km upstream of the confluence of the Seti and Madi rivers near to Damauli Bazaar at Vyas Municipality and an underground powerhouse is located on the right bank of the Seti River in Kahu Shivapur VDC. Other components include rural electrification and community development in the project area, and a reform and restructuring plan for the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).

The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment. You can learn more about the Accountability Mechanism and how to file a complaint at: http://www.adb.org/site/accountability-mechanism/main
