According to ADB, the project will finance capital expenditure for the construction of a new, micro fish-feed plantin Sukhri, Chhattisgarh with an installed capacity of 600 MT/day. The specialized micro fish feed, which is new to the market, will support farmers in adopting higher-efficiency fish feed, which in turn will increase food production and contribute to increased farmer income and food security in India. More efficient delivery of nutrients to the fish will result in increased agricultural productivity, reduced water contamination, and improved resilience to climate change. The project will also support gender inclusion. The project is fully aligned with the Government of India's goal of enhancing fish production, resulting in increased export earnings and employment. The TA will focus on building climate-resilient fish farming practices and financial literacy of 2,700 farmers, including at least 540 women farmers.
The transaction involves a (i) loan of up to $16,000,000 (or its equivalent in Indian Rupees) to Abis Exports (India) Private Limited (ABIS) for the AABIS Climate-Resilient Aquaculture Value Chain Project in India and (ii) technical assistance (TA) for Building Capacity for Climate Change Adaptation in Smallholder Fish Farming

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment.
