According to ADB website, the ADB is working with the People’s Republic of China to cut pollution and improve watershed management in Dongjiang Lake, a key freshwater resource for Hunan province. The project is building wastewater treatment and water supply plants and carrying out riverbank landscaping, reforestation and green pest control. It is also supporting alternative livelihood training for rural residents.
The project will introduce an integrated approach to address the current constraints in lake environmental protection and livelihood development.The impact will be the achievement of sustainable economic development of the Xiang River basin in Hunan Province. The outcome will be the achievement of integrated environmental protection in Dongjiang Lake basin.
