According to the IADB, the general objective of this Technical Cooperation is to continue the work under the Bank's Initiative for the promotion of transboundary cooperation and integrated management of transboundary continental water systems (surface and groundwater) in Latin America and the Caribbean, supporting the governments of the region to strengthen its technical and institutional capacities under the four thematic areas of the Initiative: (i) access to data and information systems in shared basins; (ii) strengthening technical and institutional capacities for cross-border cooperation; (iii) provision of water resource planning tools and multi-sector water infrastructure or Nexus (drinking water and sanitation, irrigation, hydro-energy) in shared basins and; (iv) access to innovative financing for project implementation and infrastructure development in transboundary basins, with a focus on green and climate financing, and prioritizing access to nature-based solutions and the use of hydro-ecosystem services and the protection of the biodiversity.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
