Project Description

According to bank's website, the proposed project aims to address key infrastructure and sustainability gaps to increase access to and improve the quality of drinking water services in the capital of Baucau municipality, while strengthening resilience to climate change. It will finance the construction of a centralized water supply system, providing safely managed services to approximately 37,000 beneficiaries. This includes around 5,700 household connections delivering continuous water supply that meets international water quality standards. Currently, only about half of the population has access to water for a few hours per day, and without proper treatment.
