According to the WB, the development objective is to improve the economic and productive performance of targeted family farmers.
The AgriConnect Mx: Family Farmer Financial Inclusion and Productivity Improvement Project aims to improve the productive and economic performance of targeted family farmers in Mexico through an integrated set of interventions combining financial access, digital infrastructure, and capacity building. The project operates through four core activities: (i) offering credit lines to financial entities for Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) productive financing; (ii) providing partial credit guarantees to reduce collateral barriers for family farmers; (iii) strengthening and expanding the FIRA digital information platform (AGRITECH NEXUS); and (iv) delivering training and technical assistance on CSA technologies and practices. These activities are expected to generate outputs including expanded access to credit from the private commercial financial system, improved data availability for lenders to facilitate credit analysis, and a strengthened operational platform for agricultural information. In the short term, the project anticipates that beneficiary farmers will invest in CSA technologies and practices and gain access to timely and reliable agricultural information. Over the medium term, farmers are expected to improve their resilience to adverse climatic events and strengthen their decision-making on production, storage, and marketing. In the long term, the project aims to achieve a measurable improvement in the productive and economic performance of beneficiary family farmers.
