GSM is a Guatemalan company created in 2012 for the development, construction and operation of a run-of-river hydropower project with an estimated capacity of 20 MW, located in the municipality of Ixquisis, Department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala. The project will use the waters of the Negro and Pojom rivers, and it is expected it will generate around 120,087 MWh annually, using two Pelton Turbines of 10 MW each. IIC funding will be used for the construction of the project.

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest)-funded project.
