The project will support Klabin S.A. investment plan for the period (2019 – 2022). The investment plan will consist of the development of two new production facilities with an annual production capacity of 450 thousand tons of Kraft and 440 thousand tons of cardboard per year respectively. The Project will be divided in two phases: (i) Phase I (MP27 – new machine for the production line of Kraft and new pulp facility), which will go from 2019 to 2020, will require approximately US$1.4 billion and; (ii) Phase II (MP10 – new machine for the production line of paperboard), which will go from 2021 to 2022 will require approximately US$0.8 billion. Project start up is projected for 2021 for Phase I and for 2023 for Phase II.

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project.
