According to the World Bank project page, the objective of the proposed project is to increase the electricity supply and regional electricity trade from hydropower in Nepal at the Upper Arun site on the Arun River in the Sankhuwasabha District of eastern Nepal.
The World Bank categorized the project E&S risks as 'High'.
The World Bank disclosed the following information:
The implementing agencies are National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), and the Upper Arun Hydroelectric Limited (UAHEL).
The latter is a subsidiary of the Nepal Electricity Authority, established in 2017.
