This project is part of the larger East West Highway Corridor Development Program, with this additional financing covering construction of 1 out of 4 sections in the corridor, between Chumateleti and Khevi. This project's components include upgrading the road section to a dual carriageway, strengthening the institutional capacity of the Roads Department, and the preparation of designs and supporting studies for future projects on the East West Highway.
