According to bank provided information, the proposed Project is an equity investment of up to US$25 million in Jumia Technologies AG (“Jumia” or the “Company”), Africa’s leading e-commerce platform and the first African technology company to list on a major global exchange, namely the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The proposed project aims at accelerating Jumia’s growth across its core markets.
IFC and Jumia are jointly exploring advisory services to (i) increase shareholder engagement, (ii) implement E&S actions outlined in the Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP), (iii) expand small and medium enterprise (SME) training and capacity building, and (iv) provide financing opportunities to SMEs on the platform.
The proposed project is an equity investment of up to US$25 million.
Jumia is a publicly traded company, with the majority of its shares held by retail investors, with several institutional investors holding each less than 10 percent of Jumia’s shares. The Company is currently led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Francis Dufay and Executive Vice President (EVP) of Finance and Operations Antoine Maillet-Mezeray, supported by an executive team spanning finance, operations, technology, and commercial functions, as well as country CEOs across its key African markets.
