According to bank provided information, IFC proposes an up to US$30 million Sustainability-Linked Loan (SLL) to Liberian American Poultry (LAP) and Modern Mills of Liberia (MML), collectively referred to as the Companies. The investment will support capacity expansion and provide working capital for both companies. Specifically, MML will double its flour milling capacity to 300 tonnes per day, while LAP will increase its table egg production from 750 to 1,500 cartons per day.
The total project cost of US$42.5 million includes US$27.8 million in CAPEX (US$12.0 million for MML and US$15.8 million for LAP) and US$14.7 million in working capital for both companies. The project will be financed through a US$30 million IFC loan and US$12.5 million of Sponsor equity contributions.
Established in 2018, MML is a leading flour mill in Liberia. In addition to flour milling, the company produces animal feed, which is primarily supplied to its sister company, LAP, as part of an integrated feed-to-egg business model. LAP is Liberia's leading table egg producer.
MML and LAP are majority-owned (51%) by West African Premier Investment LLC (WAPI), an investment fund of the Siblani family. Mr. Henri Chaoul holds a 24% stake in MML and a 19% stake in LAP, with the remaining shares held by other minority investors.
