According to IFC, the proposed investment comprises an equity investment of up to INR 2.2 billion (approximately US$25 million equivalent) in HDFC AMC Structured Credit Fund- I (HDFC SCF-I or the Fund), a scheme of HDFC AMC Structured Credit AIF-I. The Fund is the first credit fund to be raised and managed by HDFC Asset Management Company Limited (HDFC AMC or the Fund Manager), with a target fund size of INR15-25 billion (US$170-284 million equivalent). The Fund will invest primarily in secured debt instruments issued by performing mid-market companies in India, providing access to financing which is not otherwise available from traditional banks and NBFCs (the Project).
The proposed IFC investment consists of an IFC own account equity investment in the Fund for an amount of up to INR2.2 billion (approximately US$25 million equivalent).
HDFC AMC is the sponsor and the Investment Manager of the Fund. HDFC AMC, formed in 1999 and currently 52.5% of which is owned by HDFC Bank, is the third largest asset manager in India managing over US$100 billion in assets across equity and fixed income mutual funds. HDFC AMC is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE).
