According to the IFC, the investment consists of a loan of up to US$50 million equivalent in BRL (approx. BRL260 million) for IFC’s own account to Sociedade de Abastecimento de Água e Saneamento S.A.. The proceeds will be used to finance part of the Company’s capital expenditure (CAPEX) plan 2023-2025, geared at improving its water supply and sewage infrastructure contributing to achieving its 100% service coverage objective, growing operational resiliency, enhancing service quality, and increasing efficiency.

Sanasa is a Water and Sanitation company whose major shareholder is the Municipality of Campinas with 99.9% of shares, created by municipal law to provide water and sanitation services to the city of Campinas. Sanasa’s area of operation has 1.3 million people and is in the State of São Paulo.
