As stated by the IFC, the project consists of the development, construction, equipping and operations of two solar PV projects, tendered under the Scaling Solar Program in Cote d’Ivoire and attributed to Infinity Power Holding B.V.: (i) a 36 MWac solar power plant to be located at Laboa; and (ii) a 44 MWac solar power plant to be located at Touba, in Cote d'Ivoire.
The Projects were offered at very competitive tariffs of €0.03310 per kWh for Laboa and €0.03213 per kWh for Touba, which establishes a new record for the lowest solar independent power producer tariffs in West and Central Africa.
As stated by the IFC, the total Project costs are estimated at approximately €71.4 million of which €36.1 million for the Touba plant, and €35.3 million for the Laboa plant. IFC will act as global coordinator, with the financing package for both Projects expected to include an IFC investment of up to €36.3 million, and up to €18.1 million in additional debt mobilized from a DFI.
As stated by the IFC, the Project companies, Touba Solar PV S.A and Laboa Solar PV S.A, incorporated in Cote d’Ivoire are fully owned by IPH, a joint venture between Infinity Energy SAE based in Egypt and Masdar of the United Arab Emirates. The Ivoirian Government have a right to take up to 10% of the equity of the Project Companies. The Sponsor operates and develops large-scale renewable projects (solar and wind) in Egypt, South Africa, Senegal, Ghana and elsewhere in Africa.
