Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank's website, this project finances the construction and operation of an integrated propane dehydrogenation unit (PDH) and polypropylene unit (PP) to manufacture propylene and polypropylene. The facilities will be located in the town of Police, adjacent to the existing facilities of GA Police and will have access to its utilities and infrastructure. 

The site is away from residential areas and will not be associated with resettlement of livelihood loss. The new plant is not located in protected areas, however, the shipping canal is within a Natura 2000 area, and a number of Natura 2000 areas are located nearby. 

Additional technical cooperation is being considered as part of the project. This would entail the following: (i) increasing awareness of the implications of climate change for the borrower; and (ii) assessing and reviewing the climate related reporting procedures of the borrower.

A Private Actor is a non-governmental body or entity that is the borrower or client of a development project, which can include corporations, private equity and banks. The borrower is a subsidiary of Grupa Azoty and GA Police established to implement an integrated petrochemical complex consisting of propylene (based on propane dehydrogenation/PDH technology) and polypropylene production facilities.
