This project finances technical assistance for improvements to Georgia's road sector, particularly the East West Highway, an integral part of the 4 Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) corridors. The technical assistance will manifest in: a) an independent technical review, covering technical and contractual aspects of the detailed design for the highway improvement works; and b) a comprehensive assessment of Georgia's road sector.
This project is preparatory assistance for a larger project aimed at improvements to the Khevi Ubisa section of the East West Highway by constructing 12 tunnels, 43 bridges, and several very deep cuttings and high embankments covering a distance of 15km.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment. You can learn more about the Accountability Mechanism and how to file a complaint at:
