Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the Bank’s website, contractors, suppliers, and consultants play essential roles in the delivery of projects financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Proactive engagement with them increases competitive interest in ADB-financed activities and contributes to better development outcomes. The technical assistance (TA) will support organizing and funding:

(i)business opportunities fairs (BOFs),

(ii)business opportunities seminars (BOSs), and

(iii)market research.

The TA will support enhancing suppliers' competition to ADB financed opportunities by strengthening visibility and strategic communication of outreach events to attract quality suppliers to participate especially in areas and sectors of low competition. The TA is aligned with the following impact: private sector development, quality infrastructure, advanced technologies, efficiency and quality of services improved, and environmental and social harm minimized. The intended outcome is: Improved quality of competition among contractors, suppliers and consultants in ADB-financed contracts. The TA will ensure (i) more responsive and centralized coordination among suppliers from ADB members, and (ii) better understanding of suppliers participating in ADB financed projects. Further, the outcome of this TA will support future initiatives to improve the ADB procurement framework and ensure alignment with international standards to attract higher quality suppliers. It also supports the key directions of ADB's new operating model, introduced in 2023, to strengthen ADB's work in developing the private sector.
