According to the Bank’s website, this project aims to estimate and analyze the neutral interest rate for developing Asian economies, focusing on its evolution, determinants, and implications for monetary policy. The neutral interest rate is a critical concept for policymakers as it represents the equilibrium level of interest rates that neither stimulates nor restricts economic activity. It is essential for guiding monetary policy decisions to maintain stable domestic prices and economic activity. However, the neutral rate is not directly observable and has been predominantly studied in the context of developed economies. This project will fill the gap in the literature by providing estimates of the neutral rate for developing Asia and exploring the factors that influence its level and trajectory.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF ADB
The Accountability Mechanism is an independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who believe they are likely to be, or have been, adversely affected by an Asian Development Bank-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the Accountability Mechanism, they may investigate to assess whether the Asian Development Bank is following its own policies and procedures for preventing harm to people or the environment.
