Project Description

If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

As stated by the EBRD, the project includes the development, construction and operation by Scatec of a 1.95 GW solar PV plant and 3.935 MWh BESS with associated grid connection. The project will be implemented in 4 locations:

Site 1: Hybrid - Minya site: 1.95 GW solar PV and 1.5 GWh BESS located in East Minya.
Site 2: Consumer substation: 500/220/22 kV Sub-station and 500 kV, 2.5 km Overhead Transmission line located in Al Sarirya.
Site 3: Abu Qir: 1.435 GWh BESS, along with 33/220 kV substation located in Abo Qir, Alexandria.
Site 4: Nagaa Hammadi: 1.0 GWh BESS along with a 33/220kV substation and Overhead Transmission Line located in Nagaa Hammadi, Qena.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD

The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
