According to the EBRD, the project consists of a Portfolio Risk Sharing (PRS) in the form of an unfunded portfolio guarantee of up to EUR 25.0 mln to be provided by the Bank in favour of OTP Bank S.A.. It will cover up to 50% of the credit risk of new sub-loans originated by OTP Bank for a combined value of up to EUR 50 mln.
The proposed project follows a successful utilisation of OTP Bank's first PRS facility, an innovative product in Moldova at that time. PRS has proven itself as an effective solution in de-risking PFIs and addressing the MSME financing gaps. The PRS facilities helps PFIs strengthen their resilience thanks to risk-sharing structure and capital relief benefits as confirmed by National Bank of Moldova (NBM), unlocking PFIs ability to step up new lending.
The EBRD categorized the project E&S risk as 'FI'.
According to the EBRD, OTP Bank is 98.3% owned subsidiary of OTP Bank Nyrt, Hungary, ranked 4-th (out of 10) largest bank in Moldova in terms of total assets (EUR 1b) with market shares of 10% and 11% in loans and deposits, respectively as of June 2026.
