Project Description

According to the bank document, "The Project entails the construction and operation of a 2,500 megawatt (MW) gas-fired IPP project in Rayong province, Thailand. The Project will be one of the largest power plants in Thailand and will help meet the projected growth and industrial transformation plans under the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development plan. The Project will provide significant generating capacity that is reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.

The Pluak Daeng Power Plant of Gulf PDCo., Ltd. covers area of 492 rai, 1 ngan and 20.3 square wah or approximately 492 rai, covering 13 plots of land in the Pluak Daeng Industrial Park (Industrial Park), Map Yang Phon sub-district, Pluak Daeng district, Rayong Province...The proposed Pluak Daeng Power Plant will utilize natural gas as main fuel and diesel oil as back up fuel. The total installed capacity of this power plantis 2,920 MW whichwill be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). Major machineriesand equipment of the Pluak DaengPower Plant will be four combustion turbine generators (CTG), four heat recovery steam generators(HRSG) and foursteam turbine generators(STG). The generated electricity to be sold to EGAT will be dispatched via the 500 kV Pluak DaengSub-station. The natural gas for the project to be supplied by PTT (Public) Co., Ltd. is expected to peak at412 million cubic feet/day at LHV dry valueand the diesel oil supplyas contingencyfuel,is expected to be8,631 m3/day. Raw water will be provided by the Eastern Water Resources Development and Management PCL with rate of 63,000m3/day and stored in the 189,000 m3 reservoir."
