Project Description

According to bank provided information, the proposed investment consists of providing an additional IFC A Loan of up to US$50 million and US$100 million equivalent in deliverable local currency to be disbursed to Airtel Africa’s subsidiaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya respectively (“Borrowers”). The Loan would be under similar terms and conditions as the previously committed facility. The investment is expected to underpin the Group’s accelerated capex progamme aimed at expanding its mobile network across the DRC and Kenya. Furthermore, the investment will also enable the Borrower to refinance existing debt to optimise the capital structure and support future expansion. Funds will be used to support Airtel Africa’s operations and investments across two subsidiaries in Sub-Saharan Africa, namely DRC and Kenya.

The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and on Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). Bharti Airtel Limited, an Indian telecommunication company with operations in 17 countries, is a majority shareholder with 62.7% (as of Mar-2026) shareholding in the Group.
