Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the ADB, the activity under the facility will support the development of an additional water intake for the city of Osh. Existing intake was completed in September 2016 under the Emergency Assistance for Recovery and Reconstruction project, but was not enough to cope with the needed demand in clean and uninterrupted water supply during rainy season and related high water turbidity. The new water unit will be located upstream of the existing one, in a section of the river that will not be affected by the torrential rains that cause the water turbidity on the existing intake, provide 400,000 people with access to safe, clean and reliable water supply. The activity will improve the development impact and sustainability of the project.
