Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

As stated by the IFC, the Project consists of an up to BRL 400 million (approximately USD 81 million) anchor investment in an 10-year unsecured debenture of up to BRL 800 million (approximately USD 162 million) to be issued by EDP Espirito Santo Distribuicao de Energia S.A.. IFC proceeds will finance a portion of the Company’s capex program, which includes investments in loss-reduction, renewal and refurbishment of distribution assets, grid automation, and telecommunications. The remainder BRL 400 million (approximately USD 81 million) of the issuance will support the Company’s general capital expenditures program.

This project does not consider any advisory services. Nevertheless, EDP has partnered with IFC Future Grids Alliance, a platform in which IFC client members gain special access to three of IFC’s unique value additions: advisory services, financing, and global networking.

Investment Description
