This project provides technical cooperation and financing for improvements in the quality of water and water supply security in the city of Kokshetau, Akmola Oblast. This includes the modernization of the water treatment plant, and the rehabilitation of other infrastructure.
The State Communal Enterprise "Kokshetau Su Arnasy", the municipal water and wastewater utility of the City, established in the 1960s, is mainly involved in: (i) water supply to 55,100 and 2,200 state and legal entities, and (ii) collection and treatment of wastewater services. The Company supplies circa 6.4 million ms of potable water annually, 70 per cent to the population and 30 per cent to legal entities, and treats 4.6 million ms of wastewater.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF EBRD
The Project Complaint Mechanism (PCM) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)-financed project. If you submit a complaint to the PCM, it may assess compliance with EBRD's own policies and procedures to prevent harm to the environment or communities or it may assist you in resolving the problem that led to the complaint through a dialogue with those implementing the project. Additionally, the PCM has the authority to recommend a project be suspended in the event that harm is imminent.
