As stated by the DFC, the project consists of a 8-year, 50% coverage Loan Portfolio Guaranty to support bank lending to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (“MSMEs”) in Moldova.
As stated in the project disclosure document, DFC loans to financial institutions who will utilize the loan to expand their micro, small, and medium enterprise lending are screened as a Financial Intermediary C (FI-C) for environmental and social assessment.
As stated on the company's website, Maib is a leader in the banking sector of the Republic of Moldova, with over 2 400 employees and over 1 054 000 customers.

Unlike many other development finance institutions, DFC does not currently have an access to information policy.
Under the United States Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), DFC is obliged to respond to reasonably formulated requests for Agency records. However, DFC may apply exemptions from release to certain types of information and may charge fees in responding to requests.
