As stated by the DFC, KeepItCool is a B2B aggregation/sales platform to connect fish farmers with buyers and that utilizes cold-chain “cold as a service” technology. This is an ASBC transaction.
The Project is expected to have a positive development impact in Kenya and Uganda by improving market channels for fisherfolk and smallholder farmers and reducing post-harvest losses. More specifically, the Project will reduce post-harvest losses by providing a cold-chain solution for the transport of fish and chicken to the point of sale, as well as storage at the buyer’s premise.
The Project is expected to benefit women-owned/led fish suppliers, as well as downstream micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) customers, such as restaurants, retail fish sellers, and hotels.
Projects involving food productivity, distribution, and aggregation are screened as Category B projects under DFC’s environmental and social guidelines.
The loan will be provided as follows: 60% KES, and 40% UGX.
As stated on the company's website, Raino Tech4Impact is a social enterprise that leverages technology to strengthen the African value chain. We are deploying technology-enabled solutions in agriculture to increase productivity and efficiency
