Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

(i)Full Time schools: Construction of eight new full-time elementary schools, accommodating students from grades 1-9, with a capacity from 1,000 to 1,200 each, totaling 9,400 pupils in vulnerable neighborhoods of the municipality.(ii)Retrofit of existing schools: Retrofitting of seven existing small part-time elementary schools into kindergarten units, with an estimation of 2,300 new enrollments.(iii)Urban Requalification: Urban Requalification of the surrounding areas of at least 15 schools and kindergartens, to improve accessibility, safety and access to public transportation.(iv)Part-time schools construction: Conclude civil works of thirteen schools currently under construction or in bidding process, fully financed by counterpart funds.(v)Strengthening Educational System, Monitoring, Evaluation and Project Management: Support the remodeling of Teresina's educational program through financing studies for joint development of a pedagogical plan, operational and logistics for cost-benefit optimization of the municipality educational network, with support from consultants. Engagement of external audit firm for the Project, support for Project management and preparation of monitoring assessment reports.
