As stated by the NDB, Shudao Solar Energy Project involves the development of a 1 GW greenfield solar power plant, including a 0.9 GW of solar photovoltaic power plant and a 100 MW concentrated solar power plant. The project will have a heat storage system for a more flexible operation, higher capacity factor and smoother generation profile. The project also includes the construction of associated transmission infrastructure.
The stated objective is to support China’s energy transition through the expansion of the capacity of renewable energy sources and reduction of reliance on fossil fuels.
As stated by the NDB, Shudao Investment Group Co, Ltd (“SDIG”) is a state-owned enterprise in Sichuan Province, China, 100% owned by the Sichuan Provincial Government. As of 2025, SDIG had installed renewable energy generation capacity of 5.0 GW and a development pipeline of 27.0 GW.
According to Bloomberg, Shudao Investments Group Co. Ltd. provides transportation infrastructure construction services. The Company constructs highways, railways, bridges, and other projects. Shudao Investments Group also conducts investment, mineral resource development, trade, and other businesses.
