According to the IADB, this proposal aims to assess the long-term effectiveness of agroforestry projects by estimating the impacts of two interventions implemented in El Salvador and the Dominican Republic. The analysis will combine ground-truth survey data with remote sensing information. Both projects share the objective of increasing agricultural productivity and income of smallholder farmers while strengthening climate resilience and environmental sustainability. The interventions included: (i) financial incentives to offset the costs of adopting agroforestry systems and (ii) technical assistance to support adoption of climate-smart practices.Overall, the proposal will estimate the causal effects of agroforestry interventions on agronomic, environmental, and socio-economic outcomes, including crop diversification, adoption of agroforestry technologies, environmentally sustainable practices, agricultural productivity, income, and food security. Satellite imagery will complement the analysis by providing indicators of plant health, biomass, soil degradation, and water stress, which are expected to develop over the medium to long term.

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment. You can submit a complaint by sending an email to MICI@iadb.org. You can learn more about the MICI and how to file a complaint at http://www.iadb.org/en/mici/mici,1752.html (in English) or http://www.iadb.org/es/mici/mici,1752.html (Spanish).
