Project Description

According to the IADB, the general objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) is to generate knowledge on the main barriers limiting the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the public sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as to identify effective mechanisms to overcome them. To this end, the TC will: (i) conduct applied research to identify the main institutional, organizational, and technical barriers that hinder AI adoption in the public sector, as well as the conditions that enable its effective implementation; (ii) strengthen the capacities of public officials through the development of learning materials based on the research findings; and (iii) support the design of national data policy models and national AI strategies by developing reference models and evidence-based practical recommendations that can be adapted by countries with different levels of digital maturity.

The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
