The objective of this technical cooperation is to reinforce the lines of work in sanitation, support for operators, rural services, and water security within the framework of the LAIF program. These lines of work address challenges that continue to be present in the region: water and sanitation, access to water and quality services through the integrated management of water resources, the creation of infrastructure, and capacity building and regulatory development.

According to the Technical Cooperation Document:
"This TC does not include the execution of works, and in most cases, it will not finance pre-feasibility or feasibility studies of specific investment projects or the associated environmental and social studies; therefore, these actions do not fall under applicable requirements of the Bank's Environmental and Social Policy Framework (ESPF). In the case of study development, these will not have negative environmental and social impacts, so their environmental and social classification category is "C", in accordance with the Bank's Environmental Policy."

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
