According to the IADB, the program's general objective is to capitalize, institutionalize and scale up the interventions conducted under SIRWASH program Phase I, with the final development goal of increasing access and quality of water, sanitation, and hygiene services in rural communities of targeted countries by developing adequate public policies and strengthening institutions and capacities. Specific objectives are: (i) In the targeted countries the rural wash sector governance is improved through better policy implementation and improved regulatory framework and (ii) Through South-South collaboration the knowledge is further strengthened, disseminated and is capitalized with a particular focus on the themes of Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change, Gender and inclusion.
ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment.
