Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

As stated by the NDB, the Program supports Government of Brazil’s program for mobilizing resources to narrow the financing gap for infrastructure in the Program Regions. NDB Loan proceeds will be used by the Government of Brazil as contribution to the resources of its Regional Development Funds, namely the Development Fund of the Northeast (FDNE), the Development Fund of the Amazon (FDA), and the Development Fund of the Central-West (FDCO). These funds will in turn be utilized for providing long-term loans to finance eligible infrastructure projects in the Program Regions, with focus on renewable energy and connectivity.

The Program objective is to promote sustainable socio-economic development in the Program Regions by way of reducing infrastructure bottlenecks and thereby enhancing economic competitiveness, boosting productivity, and attracting new investments. The Program will contribute to reducing regional inequalities in Brazil while also supporting achievement of Brazil’s targets for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Contact Information
This section aims to support the local communities and local CSO to get to know which stakeholders are involved in a project with their roles and responsibilities. ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF NEW DEVELOPMENT BANK

The New Development Bank (NDB) does not currently have an independent accountability mechanism to accept complaints related to NDB-financed projects. The Bank does have a whistleblower mechanism that receives complaints about misconduct related to corruption, fraudulent practices and instances of money laundering in projects financed by the NDB and/or against the NDB staff members. To learn more about the whistleblower mechanism and how to file a complaint, access this webpage at: https://www.ndb.int/about-us/whistleblowing/.
