According to the IADB, the objective is to support the expansion of electricity service coverage in Panama, contributing to the universalization of access to sustainable energy in rural and hard-to-reach communities through the technical and institutional strengthening of the Universal Energy Access Program (PAUE) (PN-L1155), currently under implementation, and the new Lighting Lives Program (PN-L1198), promoted by the Government of Panama to expand and consolidate rural electrification efforts across the country, as well as the generation of technical inputs for the modernization of the electricity sector.Specific objectives:(i) Support the implementation and evaluation of the PAUE and the Lighting Lives Program, aimed at improving the living conditions and socioeconomic development of Panama's rural population through the expansion of access to reliable, affordable, and environmentally sustainable electricity services;(ii) Support the preparation of the Lighting Lives Program through the collection of technical information and the development of preliminary designs for energy solutions (grid-connected systems, microgrids, or standalone systems), including the assessment of technological alternatives, costs, and operating conditions;(iii) Support the modernization of Panama's electricity sector

ACCOUNTABILITY MECHANISM OF IADB
The Independent Consultation and Investigation Mechanism (MICI) is the independent complaint mechanism and fact-finding body for people who have been or are likely to be adversely affected by an Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) or Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC)-funded project. If you submit a complaint to MICI, they may assist you in addressing the problems you raised through a dispute-resolution process with those implementing the project and/or through an investigation to assess whether the IDB or IIC is following its own policies for preventing or mitigating harm to people or the environment. You can submit a complaint by sending an email to MICI@iadb.org. You can learn more about the MICI and how to file a complaint at http://www.iadb.org/en/mici/mici,1752.html (in English) or http://www.iadb.org/es/mici/mici,1752.html (Spanish).
