Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the World Bank disclosure statement, the proposed Yellow River Basin Circular Rural Growth Project will provide IBRD financing of US$150 million to catalyze investment in circular agribusiness solutions in four provinces of China's Yellow River Basin (Gansu, Henan, Shandong, and Shanxi). The project will support commercially viable circular agribusiness models in selected food and non-food value chains -- including fruit, vegetables, medicinal herbs, fisheries, and rural tourism -- through performance-based grants to agribusiness enterprises and aggregators. It will also strengthen the enabling environment for circular rural economy investments by financing institutional and governance systems, GHG monitoring, circular economy standards, and shared public infrastructure such as waste management and renewable energy systems. The project aims to create rural jobs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to sustainable rural development, while generating replicable lessons for national scale-up through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
