Project Description

According to bank's website, the proposed project aims to respond to persistent challenges including high maternal mortality, adolescent fertility, under-five mortality, chronic undernutrition, weak health workforce capacity, low insurance coverage, and limited preparedness and response capacity for epidemics and natural hazards. Structured around two results areas, the PforR will (i) improve the quality and utilization of essential RMNCAH+N services through workforce strengthening, facility rehabilitation and equipping, quality-of-care reforms, stronger supply chains, and community outreach; and (ii) strengthen health system resilience through Emergency-Ready Primary Health Care (ERPHC), including improvements in frontline staffing, medicines, equipment, infrastructure, and basic utilities. The IPF component will support technical assistance, including (i) targeted capacity building on World Bank and international financial management, procurement, and environmental and social requirements; and (ii) the development and rollout of standardized operating procedures for key fiduciary and implementation processes.

Early Warning System Project Analysis
For a project with severe or irreversible impacts to local community and natural resources, the Early Warning System Team may conduct a thorough analysis regarding its potential impacts to human and environmental rights.
