Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the disclosure statement, the proposed project will support Lao PDR to increase water security and enhance the resilience of selected water infrastructure to water-related climate risks. It will finance the rehabilitation and repurposing of priority high-risk irrigation dams and associated irrigation conveyance infrastructure, strengthen the management and operation of irrigation systems through improved monitoring, analytics, and water allocation, and build institutional capacity for irrigation dam safety and integrated water resources management. The project will also support implementation of the Dam Safety Law in the irrigation sector, strengthen coordination through the National Water Management Committee, and prepare selected river basin profiles and River Basin Management Plans in priority basins.
