According to the WB, the PBG will support Barbados' efforts to enhance economic growth, employment, and regional integration. The proposed operation is structured around two mutually reinforcing pillars, each targeting a distinct dimension of Barbados' structural reform agenda, and aims at introducing in the Caribbean a WBG credit enhancement structure that combines an International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) first-loss Policy-Based Guarantee (PBG) of US$ 110 million with a potential MIGA second-loss guarantee to raise up to US$ 184 million equivalent in Barbadian dollar of commercial financing for Barbados.
