Project Description
If provided by the financial institution, the Early Warning System Team writes a short summary describing the purported development objective of the project and project components. Review the complete project documentation for a detailed description.

According to the WB, this project will contribute to improved public planning and private sector decision making in Peru's agri-food system through investments to optimize the production, quality, availability and utilization of agri-food statistics, forecasts, and information. The project will build digital public infrastructure in the sector, strengthen regional agrarian agencies, and pilot new strategies to empower farmers with information. The Project is structured into three technical components and a project management component, which invest in foundational agriculture production, agrifood market, and agroclimatic data infrastructure for strengthening data collection, analysis, and application for efficient and effective decision-making by family farmers. ii. Component 1. Access and Use of Digital Agricultural Solutions iii. Component 2. Agrifood Data Collectioniv. Component 3. Agrifood Data Production, Analysis and Disseminationv. Component 4. Project Management, Monitoring, and Results-based BudgetingComponent 1 focuses on enhancing the application and use of agricultural data for decision-making by different stakeholders on high-impact digital solutions, such as agroclimatic alerts for disaster risk management, organic certification, technical assistance for precision agriculture (e.g., soil testing, fertilizer, water and seeds application), and market information system for both input and outputs, among others. To ensure these services reach family farmers and other end-users effectively, Components 2 and 3 are oriented around building the data infrastructure required to deliver these services effectively. Component 2 enhances operational capacity for collecting agrifood data at the subnational level. These datasets will feed into Component 3, which focuses on enhancing technical capacity for information production and analysis at the central level. Components 2 and 3 will be closely coordinated to jointly build the capacity of MIDAGRI and subnational entities engaged in generating and disseminating agricultural information (i.e., DRA/GRAs and AA) for reliable and timely data provision. The outputs from Components 2 and 3 will directly support the digital solutions and services under Component 1. The integration of improved data collection, governance, and application will empower family farmers, policymakers, and private sector actors with actionable insights, fostering a more resilient and competitive agrifood sector. Data applications will also create more consumer confidence in the agrifood sector, contributing to increased competitiveness (for example through certifications, traceability, and SPS compliance).
