Project Description

According to the Bank’s website, the Statistical Institutional Capacity Development for Decision-Making Project is a $100 million Investment Project Financing operation that aims to improve the capacity of the national statistical system to produce, disseminate, and use quality statistics for evidence-based policymaking. The program will finance priority data production operations, namely the 2nd Population and Housing Census; technical assistance to enhance the dissemination and use of census data and other complementary statistics for planning and policymaking; and enhance institutional capacity through human capital development, quality-assurance frameworks, and updating of the national strategy for the development of statistics. Implemented under the Ministry of Planning, in coordination with international development partners, the operation seeks to establish strong foundations for the National Statistical Institute and broader National Statistical System to transform into a resilient, integrated, and user-centered system capable of sustaining data production and driving evidence-based policymaking. The project also seeks to enhance workforce skills, expand access to quality employment opportunities, and support job creation.
