Project Description

According to the WB, the development objective is to enhance micro, small, and medium enterprises lending in support of job growth.

The project aims to support the PDO by enhancing BANDESAL's: 1) tier-2 lending to financial institutions to on-lend to MSMEs; 2) partial credit guarantees for financial institutions for their MSME loans; 3) technical assistance to strengthen MSMEs capabilities and market linkages; and 4) project management.

Financial Intermediary
A financial intermediary is a bank or financial institution that receives funds from a development bank. A financial intermediary then lends these funds to their clients (private actors) in the form of loans, bonds, guarantees and equity shares. Financial intermediaries include insurance, pension and equity funds. The direct financial relationship is between the development bank and the financial intermediary.
