As stated by the World Bank, this project will support the Zambia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (ZEITI) with technical assistance to enhance transparency and accountability in the extractive sector. The project will enable the timely production and dissemination of EITI reports. The project will support the upgrade of the ZEITI platform and finance the modernization of two electronic data systems: the national mining cadastre, including system upgrades, data centre migration, and integration with national systems, implemented by the Minerals Regulation Commission; and the Mineral Output Statistical Evaluation System (MOSES). The project will also support stakeholder engagement to facilitate implementation of the EITI validation corrective actions and the development of policy recommendations to respond to the expansion of the mining sector.
The implementing agency will be the Zambia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (ZEITI).
According to the World Bank, the funds will be provided by the Extractives Global Programmatic Support programme.
