According to bank's website, the approved project aims to transform Kinshasa into a clean, connected, and competitive city by providing integrated solid waste management (SWM) services in selected neighborhoods, developing capacities and plans for waterfront development, and creating better and more inclusive jobs. Through a multi-phased approach, the operation will establish functional SWM infrastructure, prepare for investments in urban mobility and riverfront revitalization, and maximize economic opportunities via investments in urban services. It also prioritizes job creation--especially for youth and women--skills development, and private sector engagement, while also strengthening institutional frameworks and financial sustainability to ensure long-term impact and replicability across other cities in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
