Project Description

According to bank's website, the proposed project aims to interconnect the Iraqi electric system to the GCCIA regional energy market and upgrade the capacity of the domestic transmission and distribution infrastructure to meet the increasing electricity demand. The investments in the electricity transmission and distribution networks will enable increased the absorption of power through the GCCIA interconnection, unlock the expansion and integration of domestic power generation, and modernize Iraq's aging transmission and distribution networks. Further complementary support will be provided to improve the sector's operational efficiency, financial sustainability, and service reliability.
